Lead by clarinetist Antony Michaelson, who also founded the "Musical Fidelity" record label, the company has a stated mission of producing "state-of-the-art high-end sound at a modest price". Michaelson believes in the superior sonic value of valves. In 2002 he shifted the majority of Musical Fidelity's production to Taiwan.
